Dave and Wilda Omer Scholarship

Dave & Wilda Omer

Dave Omer's 40 year coaching career earned him and his wife, Wilda, the respect and love of people from all over the country. As he prepared to retire, the community that so loves him and his wife decided a way to honor the family was to establish a scholarship fund in honor of the couple.

The Dave and Wilda Omer Scholarship fund resulted from that outpouring of love and respect. Gifts started pouring into the local foundation office. After a few months, Mrs. Omer succumbed to her prolonged battle with cancer. After almost 5 months, the gifts in honor of the couple and in memory of Mrs. Omer continue to arrive at the foundation.

Almost 180 gifts from Kentucky, Florida, North Carolina, Indiana, Nebraska, Illinois, California, Missouri, and Michigan have formed the Dave and Wilda Omer Scholarship Fund.

Dave and Wilda grew up in Kentucky and attended the same high school. Mr. Omer was a basketball coach for 40 years, and the family moved to Daviess County over 20 years ago. He coached the Washington Hatchets for 11 years all the way to be state champions in 2005 and Wilda was supportive through it all.
